There is nothing more frustrating than working hard to get something just right and having it fall apart when you thought you had it. That really sucks about the show. It's agonizing, I know. :/
I think I missed something though -- why can't you have meat?
Here's hoping things go on up and stay there. How's the legs, btw?
Oh, i can't have meat because (and this is where my lack of LJing shows) for the last month, I've been on a no-meat, no-fish, no-tofu, no-seafood, no-beans, no-peas diet so that doctors can monitor my blood work and hopefully see what's wrong.
The legs are ok - I'm walking around again, but I need to do some rehab or physio since I lost so much muscle mass during the two months of sedentarity.
Congratulations on your last show Dave. Just don't put yourself down so hard on the "technical difficulties". Stuff like that happens, and trust me I know. I admit I don't know the details of what happened back there, or the exact reaction from the director, writer, etc, but from what I saw, the play was highly celebrated. That has to count for something, it's a group effort and you're a part of it.
oh dave... i'm sorry that my courtesy-cousinly vibes put you in a bad state. firstly i want to say that i'm so sad we're not close enough for me to know you work on theatre productions like this often, and secondly let me say that you're way too talented for this world. thirdly i want to add that i'm sure the cast and crew weren't as mad at you as you think they were. they know how much you've done for them in the past and they know that you would do everything in your power to make things perfect. sometimes things are just out of your control. just be happy with the times when things did go as planned and continue from now. if i've learned anythign these few months is to not dwell on things you can't change and you can't change the past.
I'm sorry about what happened. I know you always put your all into everything. Sacrificing your time, sleep and health. But at least you tried your best in those conditions. We all know how technology can be unreliable, its unpredictable. Well at least your friends cheered you up a bit and you are planning trips for the future, rather than working all the time. I think its time to slow down and breathe. Maybe one day I'll get around to writing and producing my own Broadway production and you'll have another chance at it :) Take care.
