The Nexus is, as ever, a refreshing change from Gotham or New York, but Dick finds that many of the available activities are strangely similar. Getting coffee, for instance. He should probably be sleeping, but patrol was quiet tonight, leaving him pointlessly energetic and wakeful. Though he changed to civilian clothing (as is generally his custom ( Read more... )

"You don't need that coffee."

His older self might be relaxed; Dick is anything but. He's been methodically scouting possible places his older self might go, only the fact that he's been deliberately varying his course preventing it from being able to be called patrolling. Once Dick spotted his older self, he paused only long enough to check that they were not being observed before making his way across the Nexus to fall into step beside him with a stealth and purpose that Slade would have approved of. There's a moment where Dick (Robin, he'll try to think of him as) reminds him of Tim with the stealthy approach, but there's no easy reaching out and tousling of hair here. Nothing easy at all, in fact. Expression mild, he takes a deliberate sip from the cup, mentally calling himself to task for the impulse and for failing to notice his younger self while lost in the tedium of the Nexus.

"I don't," he agrees. "How are you?"

It's more than the usual trifling greeting, which he trusts his younger self understands.

Trifling greeting it may be, but it's the first time in months anyone's applied it to Robin. His smirk broadens. "Been busy," he says, stretching lightly -- gesture revealing he's got something tucked into an inner pocket of his jacket.

"You?"

It's good to see Robin hasn't gone entirely grim with the situation. Dick smiles, relieved that he'd managed to get what he assumes is a sample. Cyborg hadn't let the week go to waste, either, though of course they'd be able to do more now.

"Same." He raises his hand to his ear questioningly-- still bugged? "Doesn't look like it'll let up anytime soon."
