So much for a simple stealth mission.

So much for all his vaunted combat skills. He hadn't even quipped well during the fight.

Oh Grayson, now is not the time, he admonishes himself lightly. Not that I haven't been in worse situations. And not that I'll ever enjoyed being tasered unconscious...Restraints are old (if unappreciated) shoe, too. ( Read more... )

Much as Nightwing will probably love it, Slade's going to keep him waiting for a while. Despite the effort he went through to capture him, babysitting his captive isn't at the top of Slade's to-do list. Running a vast criminal empire and preparing for a move (he doesn't expect to keep Nightwing here forever, after all, and he would rather be safe than sorry) takes time so he occupies himself with that before finally deigning to visit the caged bird.

He slips inside the room silently, as much a shadow as the rest clinging to the walls. Looming over him, Slade looks down at the younger man, eyeing him silently, gauging Nightwing's reaction to his presence before he says anything.

In his life, Nightwing has spent a lot of time in restraints. Probably more than is healthy for one's psyche, in fact, but nevertheless, he's sadly accustomed to it. He has also spent a lot of time being put in positions that play off of psychological flags for submission and dominance. Again, probably more than is healthy for one's psyche.

The point being, he looks up at Slade and says, very seriously, "So, what's on your mind? Or are you just going to loom at me for a while, then go away?"

There's a moment of silence on his part, considering before he reaches into his belt and draws out a device. It's Nightwing's PINpoint; he's already examined it and taken a small amount of time to test its coordinates while he was certain Robin was occupied. He knows more than he did before, and that's never good where he's concerned.

"I find it curious, Nightwing, that even with a world such as yours to protect, you still find the time to interfere in the affairs of others." This in the same, standard tones. "Is it that you're attached to him, or is your relationship to my alternate really so personal?"

"Are those my only two choices?" He could tell Slade a lot if he chose, but he could see no reason to do so yet. The presentation of his PINpoint didn't mean a lot to him yet, either. He would wait until Slade either revealed some leverage or gave him another reason to talk.
