It happened at the outpatient clinic. I spoke with the doctor afterwards and to the best of my understanding the diaphragm moved just as he went in for the sample. He said that it was very rare but posed no danger other than the pain. He was very symapthetic about the whole thing and kept coming back to check on Laura after doing other biopsies throughout the morning. The doctor who ordered the biopsy was on hand as well and was the one who insisted that she be admitted to the hospital for observation and pain control. I get the feeling that had it been anywhere else they would have given her a bottle of pain pills and sent her home. That's what the nurse in the ER tried to do before finding out that there was an observation order from the doctor.
