Chick Flicks

After reading some not-totally-negative reviews in SFX, I thought I'd spend a couple of hours of my life watching Æon Flux and Underworld - Evolution.

Quite unexpectedly neither was a complete waste of time, despite more than one cringing moment with each. I loved the design of the first film and it's nice to see that in the same way that more-Read more... )

Lovely bum or no lovely bum the first Underworld was so rubbish that as I said at the time of it's release "short of Kate Beckinsale turning up at my door, driving me to the cinema, buying me a drink and some minstrels and proceeding to blow me throughout the entire duration of the film I won't be going to see it".

And now it's out on DVD my feelings haven't changed.

You're easy to please aren't you...

Admittedly when watching films on PC it is possible to watch it in short chunks and do other things in other windows - which helps.

Ah, there's not much in the world I like more than a shapely lady in a latex catsuit.
That said, I found Ms B to be strangely sexless in Underworld. I was worried I might be broken, but upon viewing other ladies in similar outfits, I realised if was just her.
How queer!

The outfit was very clever. Especially the way she got shot in the chest with a shotgun, cut on the legs etc. etc. and it healed along with her.

Nice!

I'll take your word for it. I think I'd be happier seeing her in just her undies...

I enjoyed them both too.

A film is a good film if it does what it says its going to do, neither of them promised to be any more than lightweight entertainment and they delivered exactly that. Bad films are ones that promise more than they deliver.

I agree completely, no film snobbery here...but I didn't find Underworld entertaining so for me it didn't succeed even in light entertainment stakes.

I can be very shallow about such things - so yes. If I ever worked in cinema, I'd want to be a production designer.
