One of my biggest pet peeves is becoming when I tell people that I work at the Girl Scouts and get the reply- that is sooo cute! grrr. I generally hate it when people say 'cute' about things other than baby bunnies. I find myself doing it regularly, however. (sigh) I ordered Girl Scout cookies this year! They come in today - I'm very excited. I don't support any other outside fund raisers when they come around work, just Girl Scouts. I have a soft spot in my heart after all those girl scout workshops I did at the museum :)

I went to Girl Scout camp as a kid. Never sold any cookies, but I did learn how to paddle a canoe through rapids, set up and sleep in a tent far from any roads or buildings, and hike for miles while wearing a heavy pack, among other things. I'd like to see these "oh, that's cute" people do any of that without crying for mommy. But those were some awesome and fun times.

I am starting a troop in a middle school with the Girl Scouts and I've gotten the "that's going to be so cute" response to which i reply "more like wicked cool.
