Time to do some "writing."

Nov 26, 2011 09:08

I want to do some writing, and by "writing" I mean the activity that was taught to me in high school under the name of "composition." I have numerous blogs none of which feature any new "writing" from yours truly. Please help me get started by asking me questions. I'm looking to generate material for KMO's ETC Journal, the C-Realm blog (which is ( Read more... )

zombies go shopping! neralauren November 27 2011, 21:23:07 UTC
Hi KMO,

I actually have been thinking about the concept of zombies in relationship to the mindless way people seemed to line up to get into stores on 'Black Friday'. By contrast I have heard some in the media imply that they thought the use of the 'human microphone' was zombie-like. Yet I've heard very little from same media about some of the antics people pulled last Friday aside from it being 'unfortunate'. How would you argue that it is the shoppers who are more zombie-like? Have some in the mainstream media been infected?

Love to you and the lovely Olga!

Here's a question... tswabbit November 28 2011, 18:24:32 UTC
You've twice now asked me what I think about the charge, made by some, that bringing "high weirdness" topics such as UFOs into the conversation about OWS, or about "saving the world," in some way taints or undermines the good work being done in these realms. Having twice now given a response which does not satisfy me, I'm going to do some blog writing about this myself. My question to you, KMO, is: what is YOUR response to this question. I gather that this topic is close to you, and would love to hear more of your thoughts on the matter. Peace, Tim

Hi Tim,

My honest answer is that I have many interests and lack the needed focus and will power to keep them separated and segregated into hermetic categories.

My self-justifying BS answer is that, to paraphrase Terence McKenna, reality is resilient. You can present it in any light, from any angle, and it still appears solid. You can kick the tires and even take it for a test drive.

If someone wants their cherished agenda item treated like a hot house flower, then they need to keep it in the hothouse of academic journals and closed email discussion lists. Once it's out of the hothouse and growing wild like ditch weed, it's ripe for spontaneous cross-pollination and deliberate hybridization.
