i can teach her this, but i cannot control what the rest of the world teaches her. who knows if someday somebody will hurt her enough, such that it gets implanted in her brain and in her heart that she must guard her feelings because this makes her vulnerable?

i would so dearly want to shield my daughter from such people and circumstances, but alas, it would also be detrimental for her not to learn these things by personal experience. she would need to know how it is to be hurt, and the only thing i can truly do is teach her how to rise above the pain.

Profound insight. :)

"Me too" to this whole post 0.0

But you know what, when I was talking to my mom about stuff like this she said that the most important thing is to have trust in your kids. Don't be afraid that they will grow up spoiled or will misbehave or will start doing drugs, because they will live up to your expectations :D

We weren't perfect kids but I think we all turned out ok, so I guess she's right.

that's great advice. ^^

yeah, i know our kids will be okay rin. :D i remember my mom once told me during my pasaway days (lol) that it was difficult for her, but that she trusted me to make the right decisions. she said she also trusted in God that He will take care of me during times she cannot. that really got me thinking. o_o

my motherly instincts just want to keep all bad influences away, though. D: hirap talaga labanan! XD
