The latest episode of
knotcast addressed a question I'd asked them about people including TMI in the commentary people leave for furry artwork. They bring up some good guidelines for folks, such as "You probably shouldn't say anything in a comment to an artist that you wouldn't say to their face."
One of the stock responses that they mentioned (which is quite popular on FurAffinity) is the perennial favorite, "I came." I was wryly amused by this, since I just saw someone leave that selfsame comment on a story that
kyellgold posted a week or so ago.
First off: come on, folks, Kyell deserves better than that, and you know it. :)
Secondly (and I suppose the main reason for my writing this entry), I'd like to thank my readers for being so good about leaving nice, detailed, constructive feedback on my stories. That sort of thing really helps, and every time someone provides some thoughtful critique on my writing, my writing gets that much better for it. I always appreciate getting that kind of feedback, and I'm always happy to hear from my fans and from people who are stumbling across my work for the first time.
I used to complain (to my fellow writer-folk) about getting comments that just said, "Hey, great story!" without an explanation of why they thought it was great or what they thought was good. Honestly, though, by now, I'm able to appreciate the fact that it's still nice that someone went through the effort to take the time to let me know that they liked what they saw, and I'm not bitter anymore when I see a simple little pat on the back.
And hey, after seeing what all else the big-name artists on FA and other sites have to sift through, I'm at least thankful that "Hey, great story!" isn't "I came" or "murrrrrr."
So yeah. Keep it up, guys! Thanks for reading, and thanks for your continued support!
