Chapter 3: Orion’s Belt

“It’s not that Nii-chan” Chinen replied pouting at his twin.

“Really? Then there’s no need for you to be so excited about the idea of visiting that girl, ever since you meet her you… ” he was not able to finish because his dad interrupted him.

“Ryosuke that’s enough! His dad said firmly.

“Fine!” Ryosuke went outside and slammed the door.

“Nii-chan matte yo” Chinen shouted, he then turned to Mirai looking apologetic.

“Gomen ne Mi-chan for my Nii-chan’s behavior, but don’t worry he’s just like that at first, I bet you will become friends in no time, Jaa ne” Chinen cheerfully waved at Mirai as he followed his twin outside the room.

Mirai was utterly perplexed by Ryosuke’s reaction, why is he angry if Chinen wants to visit and play with her?

End of POV
-------

Mirai was out of the hospital and the moment Chinen found out he asked his dad if he could visit Mirai and his dad agreed.

“Nii-chan I will visit Mi-chan this afternoon, would you like to come with me?” he asked Ryosuke eagerly.

“Why should I, she’s not my friend” Ryosuke answered smugly.

“Eh? Mi-chan is nice, I’m sure you’ll like her” Chinen sounded hopeful.

“How do you know she’s nice, you barely even know her, for all we know she’s just like…”Rysuke tried to reason.

“She’s not like Oka-chan and Umika-chan, she’s different, why don’t you give her a chance? Chinen pleaded.

“Funny you still add chan after their names, they betrayed us, and how do we know that Mirai is different?” Ryosuke shouted

“I just know okay, if you don’t want to befriend her then so be it, but you can’t stop me from making friends with her” Chi answered and with that he turned his back and left.

“Don’t tell me I didn’t warn you!” Ryosuke yelled.

Mirai’s POV

“Mi-chan!” Chinen called out my name as he ran towards the garden bench where I am seated.

“Chinen-kun! Wow your fast I was just discharged from the hospital this morning and now you’re here” I said.

“It’s because I really want to see you again” he replied smiling at me.

I smiled back, I was very happy to see him again, I’m glad to have a new friend. Ever since I have arrived at Aunt Claudia’s house I never got the chance to befriend any kid in the neighborhood. I was too busy doing the household chores and I’m not allowed to go out so I’ve got no friends. I’m looking forward to the start of the school year in my new school and I hope I can gain new friends like Chinen-kun.

“Ne Chinen-kun, where’s your Nii-chan?” I inquired.

“He has a soccer practice so he can’t come” Chinen answered.

“Eh? He plays soccer? Sugoi! I said

****Flashback****
“Ne Oka-chan, where is Otosan?” I asked my mom.

“He is busy in his work” she answered gently.

“Tell me about Otosan” I said.

“Your dad is a great soccer player Mi-chan, he does not only play in Japan but in other countries as well” she replied smiling but I saw her eyes glistened with tears.

“Hontou? Otosan is so kakoi! I exclaimed.

“Hai he is such a cool person ne?”

***End of Flashback***

I never met my dad but my mom didn’t tell me anything that would make me resent him. She said that my dad will be very happy if we would meet. I wonder when I would be able to meet him.

“Ne Mi-chan you like soccer?” Chinen queried.

“Hai, it makes me think of my dad” I replied.

“Your dad is a soccer player? Whoah Mi-chan’s dad is so kakoi!” he exclaimed and kicked an imaginary ball.

“I have never met him though, but I will definitely look for him” I stood up and opened my wallet where I kept my mom and dad’s picture. Mom gave me the picture before she died. My dad doesn’t look like a typical Japanese guy, he looks like a foreigner. There at the back of the picture was a message written by my dad.

Wait for me my future bride. I love you forever and always.

I smiled looking at my dad’s scribbles we have the same hand stroke. Chinen asked me if I have a soccer ball so that we could play but since Aunt Claudia didn’t buy me any toy let alone a soccer ball I decided to bring him in the kitchen. I told him the kitchen is my kingdom. He laughed when I told him that I’m the Kitchen Queen and told me I was too young to be a queen.

“You’re not a queen Mi-chan, you’re a princess, a Kitchen Princess that is” Chinen chuckled.

“Hai, I’m the Kitchen Princess, how about you Chinen-kun, what should I call you?” I asked.

“I don’t know how to cook so I guess I’m an apprentice” Chinen answered.

“Okay let’s start your training then, we will bake chocolate chip cookies” I said.

“Yokay hime, let’s start!” he said excitedly.

We had fun baking the cookies. Chinen easily learned the steps and how to mix the ingredients. The only problem was Chinen get too excited that the work table was littered with flour, chocolate chips and cookie mixture. We clean it up while waiting for the cookies to be baked. By the time the cookies were baked we were famished, we washed our hands and flour smudged faces. Then we ate the cookies in the garden.

“Hmmmm, This is so delicious Mi-chan!” Chinen complimented.

“Omedetou Chinen-kun, I should congratulate you, you’ll be a Kitchen Prince in no time” I smiled.

“Ne Mi-chan, you won’t go away right? You won’t leave” he said suddenly.

I was puzzled by his question, but I smiled at him and hold his hands.

“Don’t worry Chinen-kun, I’ll always be here I won’t leave you” I assured him, I felt like I’m giving him the courage my mom gave me when I was little. The comfort and the security my mom radiates whenever I am troubled before. Even when she was gone my memory of her still gives me courage to persevere.

“Promise?” he asked.

“Promise! I will always stick around you” I raised my hand then he linked his pinky around mine and made his thumb touched mine. Then we both grinned.

“I hope we could attend in the same school Mi-chan, I would be very happy if you will enroll in our school” he sounded hopeful.

“Me too” I mumbled.
