I love those Polish grocery stores in Brooklyn. First off, they carry a nearly full range of Polish products. I know, it's up to cultural choice, but there's a lot of good stuff there, which my wife and I really like. Secondly, the staff at one of these stores was kind enough to reimburse me a bagful stuff that I had just purchased there and that ( Read more... )

Еврейские же магазины в большинстве случаев дорогие. За кошерность.

Есть такая тема, увы. Хотя практически в любом магазине масса кошерных продуктов. А в том же ShopRite есть кошерный отдел с рыбой, мясом и птицей.

Выбор там не велик. Сравните скажем с Landau's на 18-й авеню или с Kollel на 39-й и 13-ой (последний кстати один из самых дешёвых).

Я слышал, кстати, что в Боро Парк собирается переехать один из лучших еврейских магазинов по соленьям (пиклз-шмиклз) - Guss Pickles.
"The Borough Park neighborhood, home to several of the city's largest Orthodox Jewish communities, still keeps to its ethnic eating habits and demand for pickles there is high, Fairhurst said, adding that she expects to move to Brooklyn by the end of the year."
The new name hasn't been decided so far though.
