Now that Joe has started orientation, I'm riding my bike to work/school. Tennessee is so much hillier than I'm used to. We don't live that far from Vanderbilt, but the hills really do me in. Nashville streets are better designed for bikers, and the drivers, at least in our part of town, are a lot more used to seeing bikers than people in Houston ( Read more... )

It's really cool that Nashville is pretty well set up for biking. I wouldn't have thought!

You'll get used to the hills after a while. There's a little hill on my work commute that used to really bug me. Now it's the most fun/exciting part of my commute. :)

Yeah, I can only really speak for this area of town. There are a lot of colleges/universities around, so I think that helps a little with drivers being more aware. The roads here are SO nice.

My parents live in a suburb to the south, and my dad bikes all the country roads and stuff. Actually, the bike-friendliness/weather was a large factor in them staying here instead of building their retirement house in Colorado.

I figured I would get used to the hills. Even running and walking is so different here because of all the hills!
