Thieves

Right.
I have a replacement phone and sim card.
Still the same number.

More Importantly, I have the details of the last calls and txts made from my phone, all on Wednesday 9/11/05 (it was taken on Sat night...what happened in the meantime?)

It's a long-shot but do these numbers mean anything to you?

If I were still by Nokia, I would be able to render the phone useless.

In your case I would go to the police. Mobile Phones are not anonymous, they can be tracked.

Yeah, not the actual value of the phone really and I don't have an account so they can't run up huge bills...

Just the principle...and I'm not going to go to any parties where such nasty criminals are likely to be invited in future!

(I dunno, you'd think at the very least the hosts would want to find out as well, just to avoid being the next victims!?!

I know, police it is (though I doubt they'll show much interest).

I know, just wanted to avoid that if possible (the whole business has wasted far too much of my time already).

I'd personally like to skin them and string them up by their intestines!
(why d'you think I keep gong on about it.)
....and next party at chez tofu, don't take your eye off your posessions for more than a minute, even to go to the loo!
You have a lot more valuable stuff than me.....

Hmm, I know its a bit late, but at one point during the party there were three guys who arrived who nobody seemed to know. Dont like to cast doubt, but they were the only people I didnt know, Chris didnt know, and apparently nobody seemed to know. Saying that, we did kinda keep an eye on them whilst they were in the room.

Stupid question but have you tried to ring these numbers?

Problem is, I still had it when we all went up to Chris' room at the end...don't remember any strangers around by then.
Yeah, did ring them...only got an answer from one...some bloke I didn't recognise.
Sadly "hello, my stolen phone was used to text you, can you give me the name and address of the thief please?" is unlikely to be successful and I wouldn't give any of my details out to a stranger on the phone, even if they had a convincing story.....

I'm used to working in call centres you know.....
that's why I know that people are very suspicious of cold-calls and promises of gifts (especially with they hang out with thieves).
Did consider various methods and cover stories but decided against it, will leave it to the police.
