In need of specifics

I'm preparing a story to post in tinman_in_cuffs. It has twelve sections, so it'll probably have multiple posts. Yeah, I understand there is disclaimer header and we warn readers what is found in the story. But do we change it per post or just come up with one to cover everything ( Read more... )

I use the same header for each chapter, but I'll add in 'This Chapter:' (usually below the 'Summary') and put a description of the chapter there. Besides the word count, that's the only part of my header that changes.

Hope this helps.

Yeah that makes sense. I'm just really used to my disclaimer for the Library: "This story contains cussing, graphic depictions of violence, drinking of alcoholic beverages, and sexual situations. If you're not mature enough to handle it, go read something else." Short, sweet, and no spoilers.

But I had one reviewer at FF.net tell me they had to stop reading Pirates if DG and Cain got sold as BDSM slaves. I actually broke my give no spoilers out rule to convince her to keep reading. :p And the first person who read Not His Kink couldn't finish the first section because it triggered bad memories for her. So color me a little paranoid now.

What I've done is warn for the whole damn thing, but mention that it starts slow and the kink comes in later. If there are fewer smut chapters than others, I'll put up a message that there's smut before the cut.

I don't think there's a standard protocol, per se, but just what ppl are comfortable doing. Hence the collective metafandom wank regarding warnings for content every once in a while.

This is my first story that is erotic. So I'm overly nervous about doing the wrong thing.
