Testing if this works on LJ

Theme song for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

If you want to have a listen to it go ahead. I'm testing that the coding will play in LJ like it does on my webpages and blog posts as an alternative to just linking every song for the fanmix portion of the [info]tm_challenge. Downloading every song irks me personally, though I'll play ( Read more... )

Now if LJ is nice, the player should show up in the comment too. *Crossing fingers*

Nope, not nice. So it will work in post but not in comments. Well it was a long shot for the comments part, so I guess I'll just be playing with links after all.

You only have to copy/paste the lyrics.

You don't have to link the songs at all.

Oh this is a pet peeve of mine. I'd rather download an fanmix zipped in one swoop, but I realize there is an audience that wants to try out the songs first. Seems like the way people cater to that is to make each song downloadable (and then no zip file--annoying!). Tedious, especially when I'm at work. So I wanted to see if this was an alternative to that.

But it doesn't work in comments, so my entry will have links as well as lyrics. When I'm free to share the entry, I'll replace individual links with the player.

Well, it's more for the sake of copyright - if you want to have a zip file for sharing after the challenge is over, that's entirely fine.

But, for the submission, it's lyrics only. Folks are usually smart enough to go looking for a song if they're curious.

"Why yes, technically, I am a pirate."

But they still have to catch me first.

If I'm interested in a fanmix I usually look up some of the songs on iTunes or somewhere else to see if I like it. Then, if I really like what I hear, I download it.

Unfortunately, I have no budget for iTunes or Amazon, so I dependent on the (overblown) criminal element of others.

But the player's actual purpose is to embed the song into a song fic without it playing automatically or continuously. Since those are rarely the whole song, I'm not too worried.

Oops, I did word that a little funky didn't I? My bad.

What I meant was that I listen to the samples of the songs on the internet and if I like what I hear I download the fanmix. I've gotten some really awesome mixes that have introduced me to new songs and artists and then I've gotten some really crappy ones that have me banging my head on the desk wondering why I wasted a perfectly good CD on that crap.

I hardly ever buy the music unless I REALLY like the artist. Broke college student here.

But yeah, making a player so the listener can get an idea of the music sounds pretty cool. Stephanie Meyers has got something like that on her website.

But I have to say, saving up for the mp3 player was a good buy. No more wasting CDs. But then I have the annoyance of people putting the song in something besides mp3 format and my player doesn't recognize it. "Why were there only three songs on that fanmix?" is my head bang question.

This is the first one I have made that isn't a story soundtrack, so my usual sampling method isn't available. Baring in mind that I can actually make it make sense with the theme.

The player is a Flash program someone else put together and open sourced. I got it from this site: Embedded MP3 Audio Player. Others have different graphical interfaces, but I ended up picking this simple one ( ... )
