La Jolla Half Marathon

The race was yesterday! I approached this race a little differently from the other races that I've been in. This time I wanted to win! That is... I wanted to beat my personal record 2:44:07 from 2009 AFC. You'll be glad to know, Runner's World magazine says that marathoners are not more prone to heart attacks, you just hear more about heart attack during marathons. It's like a plane crash, scary but still safer than driving. Also, if you have a heart attack during a marathon, you have a 75% chance of survival versus 15% if you just drop out on the street.

I'm sure there's also the added effect of people who don't train enough and then over exert themselves. (I'll let you know how many I see at mile 23.2 of the Pgh Marathon on Sunday.)

It's a good sign when the post-race nap starts to be longer than the race. Shaving off 19 minutes from your record is pretty awesome.
