Introduction

Rain poured down from the gray sky. The clouds loomed over the town and made sure that not a soul would dare to even cross the street. Luckily Daniel was armed with an umbrella and a grey warm coat shielded him from the cold. Even with the amour of clothes protecting him he still hurried towards the door, hastily entering the great ( Read more... )

The soft, silver light of the moon that hung plump in the sky shone down through the treetops and cast a fragmented glow over the stone shrine that rested in the depths of the woods. It was a crude construction of rocks, and the letters inscribed in the surfaces were weathered down now, unreadable. It was a place where people once had come to worship and make sacrifices for demons and monsters of ancient times. They were forgotten now, and this shrine was all that remained. Lockley supposed he came here for that very reason, to remind himself that everything crumbled under the weight of time. Even the strongest of monsters could fall ( ... )

Daniel jerked away from his thoughts when he heard the voice speaking to him. His eyes meet Lockley’s and for a swift moment he did not move or say anything, just like a deer caught in headlights. The first emotions in those deep grey eyes were panic and fear. It soon however smoothed over to confusion and he licked his lips a bit nervously before responding with a somewhat unsteady;”Good evening ( ... )

Lockley cocked his head in mild curiosity at the determination that suddenly came over the boy. It was a curious thing for a human not to cower before him. Not only that, but this boy demanded to know his name, and no human brought here by that spell had ever done so ( ... )

Daniel tried his best not to move away from the contact as the touch sparked a shiver traveling down his spine. Somehow he felt like backing down or show submission only would worsen the situation, just like showing a wild animal fear. They could smell it, after all. It made him wonder if Lockley could do so as well. The lake did now feel as threatening now when the critter was hovering over him with those glowing eyes focused on him as if he was a delicious treat.

To run was futile, fight would equal suicide and being eaten; unthinkable.

“I haven’t thought of any yet. My deathday won’t come that soon.” The young man said, his voice now steady as he could feel a pulse trough his nerve ends as the adrenaline pumped thru his warm blood. It was like a sizzling glow in his veins ready to burst.

The words sparked fascination in Lockley, something he had not felt for a long time now. He stared down at the boy who stood stubborn and unwilling to succumb to him although his heart was pumping at a rapid rate. It would taste delicious, and he could scarcely wait to drink it down ( ... )

Daniel flinched away from the pain with a low hiss escaping him before he bit down his lower lip to silence it. Head wounds always bleed badly even if the cut was shallow but the warmth from the liquid travelling down his cheek was such a contrast to the icy water that still clung to his skin that Daniel now realized; he had to outwit the monster to survive. Something he already knew he could not do ( ... )
