A/N: Hope I'm doing this right. :) Let's see, say Yuuri's day on Earth equals fifteen in Shin Makoku. This is a series of real short drabbles, 50 words each, about how he and Wolfram wait till they see each other again.
A/N #2: I won't be able to finish this. |||OTL
Waking up
Yuuri rolled over his bed at the slow invasion of sunlight into his bedroom. Opening his eyes, he frowned momentarily, wondering why he was feeling somewhat small, cold yet not quite battered as he usually felt waking up beside a violent, sleeping Wolfram. Then he remembered, he had returned home.
-
Wolfram went through his day swiftly and efficiently. Yuuri was once again called away to Earth for Shinou knows how long and the Kingdom had to be kept in order during his absence. This was not the first time, nor it be the last, but Wolfram still felt quite lonely.
Bathroom
There was a squeak and cold water gushed out of the shower head. Yuuri hummed quietly as he scrubbed himself clean. He was back, huh? He wondered how long and what it was for. Of course, he missed his family, but leaving Shin Makoku also tugged strings at his heart.
-
Two days. Wolfram sighed, watching the sunset. He was back from a long day on patrol and had finished returning the horses to the stables. He spotted Ao behaved in his stall and gave him a pat. If there was one thing Wolfram wasn’t going to do, it was mope.
Teeth-brushing, dressing up
He spat the toothpaste foam from his mouth, rinsed off and wiped his face on the towel. Feeling satisfactorily in control, Yuuri surveyed his dresser and picked out a most informal outfit, consisting of a loose shirt and baggy pants. He wondered if Wolfram would scold him for being unbecoming.
-
Wolfram looked up from his share of paperwork, absently sending a blank stare at Gwendal’s way and earning him a disapproving frown. Wolfram blinked in surprise, shrugged and smiled to himself. Three days and going strong. Memories of Yuuri’s whining at this very task kept the blond amused all afternoon.
Breakfast
To his dismay, it was buttered toast, scrambled eggs and sausages. Yuuri hasn’t been home for so long, the least his mother could do was prepare a proper Japanese breakfast for growing boys like him. Sitting down and eating, he wondered if it was breakfast time back in Shin Makoku.
-
Four days and not a peep. Conrad was more than amused as he and Wolfram sparred out in the courtyard. Save for the clashing of metal and the hum of the outdoor breeze, it was peaceful.
“You’re getting better at this, Wolfram.”
Instead of thanks, the blond huffed and blushed.
Going to School
Yuuri sighed with contentment as he mounted his bike. He’d ride this to horses at any day. A sudden flashback of the times he rode with Wolfram back during the early days of his arrival made Yuuri frown somewhat. Not out of annoyance but deep thought. What was going on?
-
He was up early on the fifth day, not that he was counting, nope. Wolfram sighed and sank further in the royal hot baths. If you could only see, wimp, I’m getting along swimmingly without you here. Who was Wolfram kidding? He was longing for him, eager for Yuuri’s arrival.
Classes
He was surprised he wasn’t falling asleep. No, Yuuri didn’t find English boring, just ridiculously difficult. If only he’d gotten by languages through complicated devices and stuff, life would be easier. He smiled to himself at the recollection of Wolfram being stubborn when he had offered to teach him Japanese.
-
Greta was with them in the Maou’s Study. She was playing with a freshly knitted stuffed creature while waiting for her father and Gwendal to finish the paperwork for the day. The maids had promised a batch of delicious animal cookies for snacks. Yuuri didn’t know what he was missing.
Baseball Practice
Oh yeah, this felt really good. It wasn’t like Yuuri disliked the matches back in Shin Makoku, it’s just that the thrill of a rousing game of baseball was something he truly missed while he was away. If only Wolfram had the patience to learn, he could actually like it.
-
A particularly loud thwack resounded in the still air before a small ball flew into the dying sun. Wolfram breathed deeply as he watched Shin Makoku’s baseball team enthusiastically practice. The smell of leather made his heart ache. He’d play catch with Greta later, but in absolute secrecy, or else.
Walking Home with Murata
“Are you coming over to my house for dinner?”
“Of course! I’d hate to miss your mom’s cooking.”
“…”
“Something on your mind? It’s only been an afternoon since you got back.”
“It feels kinda weird being back and doing the old stuff, y’know?”
“Boring stuff are things you miss.”
-
Wolfram watched his troops train and felt like it had been a long time since he gave his soldiers any proper supervision. The thought was quite frightening. No matter, Wolfram had prepared a very busy regiment that’d whip them back into shape. To protect the Royal Family, he thought proudly.
Stopping by a Grocery Store
“What are those for?” Murata amusedly asked.
“I want ramen for breakfast tomorrow, whether mom likes it or not.”
Yuuri frowned when his best friend laughed.
“What?”
“Imagine what’d Wolfram say if he knew you were eating that stuff!”
Funny how the conversation easily slipped to him. “Ramen isn’t stuff!”
-
Was he still counting the days? Wolfram found himself missing Yuuri more, but rather than distracting him from his everyday duties, the feelings were giving him the energy and patience to wait. It would only be a matter of time till they would meet. He hoped Yuuri felt the same.
