Yuuri had never thought there’d be another spring training he would enjoy more. And yet here was spring and here he was doing his own training without a single thought about wishing he was off somewhere else watching one of his favorite teams instead. Of course that might have had something to do with his training partner. He always enjoyed time with Conrad, but this was more than usual. He enjoyed Conrad’s praise when he pulled off a particularly complicated move well, but he also didn’t mind when he made a mistake and Conrad would calmly correct him, with added parts of touching to move him into the right position. Then they would take a break and just talk. About Greta, Wolfram, adventures, weather, anything at all. Then Conrad would occasionally mention something then automatically cringe the slightest bit and Yuuri always felt as though he had just heard something he shouldn’t have, so he just quickly continued on with a different topic. But at those parts, even with the cringe that was barely noticeable, he couldn’t help feeling special. Conrad wasn’t the type to have a number of slips of the tongue so that meant Yuuri was special to him, if he kept letting him in on these things without being asked, didn’t it? In fact, because of that, Yuuri was almost getting to the point where he liked those parts best.
And while Yuuri was being trained in technique, Conrad couldn’t help but find these sessions were starting to turn more and more into his own form of training. Training to keep certain emotions and feelings hidden, which he had an awful lot of practice in, but now it seemed to take more awareness than it used to. He found himself occasionally wondering if his last touch, to tilt Yuuri’s hand slightly, had lasted too long, if his gaze was becoming a little too wanting as he stared as his younger trainee, if he was starting to break certain boundaries that he should be staying far away from. Harder still was when they would take a break, and Yuuri would chat him up until the point he found himself starting to let the veil over his deeper feelings slip and something he should’ve kept to himself slipped out as well. Yuuri would always just continue the conversation as though nothing happened, as though Conrad didn’t just make a comment about Yuuri that probably would’ve caused a fire around Wolfram. Maybe Yuuri just didn’t get it-he could glaze over certain things occasionally-or maybe he wasn’t angry about Conrad’s feeling, whichever it was, Yuuri never minded anything Conrad said, and Conrad was actually growing to like not keeping everything inside and being able to let certain thing slip. In fact, because of that, Conrad was almost getting to the point where he liked those parts best.
