You know what never fails to irk me? How a heroic, compelling male character is simply a "hero" but a heroic, compelling female character is a "mary sue". Why? someone has an icon that I shall paraphrase go hunting on fandom secrets for their comment noting the text.

Well, then, we've definitely got a problem because this particular character is technically eighty-something, or ninety? I sort of expect someone that age to have a good chunk of knowledge and honed skills regardless of outward physical appearance.

It's basically the problem I had with T'Pol from Enterprise. Sure she looked like she was in her mid-twenties, but she was sixty-something and acting like a noob. But I guess if they'd made her more competent she would have been a "mary sue". e_e
