It kind of hurts, she confesses. How about you?
He thinks the kind of part is just a mask. It has to be. He blinks, feeling the pain in his chest slowly spread. Then he unknowingly he clenches his fist on the right to keep himself intact. He could almost feel something inside him shatter, only he doesn't know yet which. And he knows is that its the same for hers. What he doesn't know is how she does it - locking everything up inside her for so long.
I'd be lying if I say it doesn't, wouldn't I?
I know. It'll disappear one day. Doesn't everything?
Everything she's ever known disappears one day. Isn't that how it suppose to be, anyway? So why the hell does it still hurt to see him hurting for another woman? She blinks her tears away and finds her hand to his. She knows he's broken just like how she is. And for both of them, its fair that way (because when a person is in love there's no such thing as just 'I')
He feels empty and so does she (maybe even more).
"Did I take too much?" Yonghwa whispers, almost ashamed of himself for even having that courage tto ask.
He looks at her and wonder to himself why he never bothered to give a second thought the way her eyes sparkled whenever he caught a glimpse of her looking at him with her. And now, he realizes that those were her unshed tears - the results of pain he was unknowingly giving her.
"There's nothing left, Yonghwa." Taeyeon mumbles under her breath, almost choking the words forcefully out of her. (Like an empty shell, she thinks to herself)
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. I didn't know." And he really didn't. He's stupid for not knowing when everyone seemed to know.
"I know. It was just me." All along. She stood up, preparing to leave. "I'm sorry, but I have to go."
The words ring in her head over and over again as if hoping it would numb her. Because as cruel as everything is, she's still breaking over and over again.
She feels a grip on her wrist - and for a moment there, everything else seem to have been forgotten. She felt light, letting her tears flow freely on her cheeks, though still fighting small sobs from coming out.
"Yonghwa..." she doesn't know what comes next nor does she think about it.
"Don't go.. please? Stay with me." He stand on his feet and wraps her around his arms.
For once, Yonghwa felt even. He found himself realizing how his 10 year petite best friend fit perfectly onto his hug. Of course they have had shared hugs before, but never this intimate.
Taeyeon wasn't like Seohyun to begin with.
Seohyun is tall, almost as tall as him. She has long hair just like his ideal. She is lady-like, the way he wanted. Smart, charming, and mannered - everything he wished for a girl. She was almost the perfect woman for him.
But Taeyeon.
She is small, petite with short blonde hair. Her smile is wide and endearing. The happy-go-lucky type of girl that is too good to be true. A dorky, kid-like girl who had her own charm. The one who always smiled for him. But mostly, he had seen her as someone whom he can never hurt, because she's a family. And underneath all of her, he knew she was fragile and family doesn't hurt family - not when they both know that all they have is each other.
"You and I.. I don't think we're enough for each other. We're just going to hurt each other until there's really nothing left, Yonghwa-yah..."
"You're wrong. You and I... we're enough. Because I love you, Kim Taeyeon. I always have and I won't ever let you go."
There was nothing more left to say. Whatever mess they have between them - it would always count as beautiful because it's them who created it.
taeyeon,
