When you first mentioned "your lawyer" without context, I wondered what kind of a mess you got yourself into. My imagination took me to much darker places than business purchasing.
But in all other respects, it sounds bad. Maybe you should hire a lawyer and sue his pants off, then hire another lawyer to sue the pants off the second lawyer...
and so on
