that my boss gives me assignments and this seems to irritate a co-worker who was supposedly working on these assignments?  It's not really my place to wonder why my boss is giving them to me (I assume it's because she prefers the way I handle them), but what do I say to the aggravated co-worker who should be taking out her pissiness on the boss ( Read more... )

Be sensitive, it's scary when someone passes you by without explaining and giving your work to someone else. It could be that said co-worker is scared for their job, or frustrated or whatever, and you're just... around.
Also, you can't fire them, so... *shrugs*

Yeah, I want to be sensitive but this particular co-worker is not the easiest to get along with for anyone and, if you ask me, brings much misery upon herself by her own doing. And I get that she's fearful for her job and position in the company, but she needs to address this stuff with the boss, not with me - we're a small office with less than a half dozen employees, and our boss is well aware of everyone's concerns over staying employed. Rather than bitch the boss out to me while the boss is away, (and I certainly won't be joining that boss-bash bandwagon-I know where my bread gets buttered) she needs to have a sit-down with the boss and express her concerns like an adult.

True. That's the logical thing to do. Thing is, when you're emotional, logic tends to fly out the window...
Not saying she's right or anything, tho. Just... I know what it feels like.
