I think lots of folks are like you and me, I don't have the kind of money he needs, and I don't even have much cash to drop there, but I have... ideas and a little time.
Do you think there would be interest in some cool fan related but not gaming events? Like a tea party, or comics workshops, where local folks give their time and folks pay a little fee (like $3) and get to do something neat. This is Boston and there is a heck of a lot of local expertise in all kinds of fields.
Would it generate enough money to be worth the trouble?
Would it turf more lucrative ventures (like the card gamers)?
Is there enough energy and interest to do, say an event every month, every other month, or quarterly?
Part of why I like the idea is that it feels less like fundraising (which I do feel a little odd about, for a business) and more like the kind of nifty community stuff that Tyler got the extra space in the new location to do.
