Sadly enough, many of the people I know who have mascotted professionally have had unhappy endings to their suiting careers, often through the gross unappreciation of the team(s) they mascotted for. It sucks that you needed to give it up, but ultimately only you know what is best for you, as even that can be difficult to figure out. Hopefully the entire experience wasn't a complete and total wash.

On another note -- I assume you already have closer friends to talk to about personal things, but if you're ever feeling bad and need a friendly ear, know that I'm more than willing. I hate to see friends in turmoil.

Here's hoping that this year goes a lot better for you.

I remember workingon an old CMS system at my first real job. As an end user. It was certainly a different world. I often wondered what the system operator end of things was like. I might like to look for a setup like yours for home, just to get a taste of administering that sort of technology. How does one get started? Ebay for parts then how about the software components?

Honestly? Your best bet is to set up Hercules. There's even a freely-available four pack VM/370 R6 system at cbttape.org that is sanctioned by IBM for use with Hercules. Hercules on a relatively modern Pentium system will give you 50 to 70 MIPS, where my R/390 processor maxes out at about four and a half ( ... )

Congratulation on your Apple TV. Enjoy it.
It looks really nice on top of your other silver components. *shinies*
What else do you have on your A/V rack?
What? No Wii?

Yes, it does look nice. It has the feel of one of those devices that is a fun toy right now but is likely to become something I use more and more as time goes by. One of the menu items streams movie trailers straight from the ITMS, which is pretty good thinking.

There's my Cambridge Audio Azur 540R receiver and 540D DVD player (not simply an amazing DVD player, but all-region, right out of the box... though they don't advertise this fact anywhere). Also, an old Mitsubishi VCR, and my old Harman/Kardon cassette deck.

No Wii, but I do have an Amiga CD32 and TurboGrafx-16.
