TaLL (the former Little Lady who is now TaLLer than me) and I are finishing up the garden planting. I've extended myself this year - more tomatoes, more peppers, more herbs. TaLL is putting in her flowers after extensive study of which of the packets she bought can she get into ground likely to grow. We have a rather shady lot and the best ( Read more... )

I only have one good-sized bed - I have the same problem with a mostly shady yard. I do have a nice bed of herbs - and once that is established, it just comes back every year. If you want some Egyptian walking onions, let me know - they are decorative, proliferate well (and are perennial, so if you don't pick them, they come back) and taste like scallions in salads. I'll have some starts in a month or so. Plus they are great for biology lessons in vegetative reproduction. ;0)

Thanks, my father had those for years. They took over garden beds. I'll pass.

I do miss that I skipped planting garlic last fall. Next year (I always say that.)
