While the X-wing definently gave the rebellion an edge, I feel the E-wing definently did turn the tide of the war. Hopefully my memory isn't failing me and im putting them in the wrong time frame, but either way the E-wing was definently superior... Unless you look at the XJ-wings built for the Jedi Knights only... They were quite capable themselves.

You are correct, First came the Z-95 Headhunter, then the TU-65 X-Wing, and then the E-Wing, after the empire temporrarily retook Corruscant. The Ewings had R7 droids to boot.
