I'm not sure where you're getting your information on Australia from but you seem to be confusing the holidays. The Queen's Birthday weekend in June used to have fireworks but it was never called Bonfire Night (at least not in Victoria). Guy Fawkes Night was celebrated in Australia (and called variously "Cracker night", "bonfire night" and "Guy Fawkes Night") until the 80's prior to the ban on personal fireworks. It was usually held in on the Saturday closest to the 5th of November. I remember having been taught to be rather careful about setting off fireworks in the 70s as my father was a member of the Country Fire Authority.
