Now, normally I wouldn't waste my breath with Joe, after all, we are ALL perfectly aware he's a shit stirrer who's awfully fond of his own "opinions", but I kinda took offense to this:
I used to respect Joe, especially on a professional level. However, reading his blog often disgusts me because he's so damned unprofessional. He may claim that it's a personal blog, therefore he has the right to say what he likes, but in fact he waived the "personal blog" claim when he began to answer fan questions via his journal.
The way he has publicly trashed fans on his blog, who are by no means only negative (I personally would say that they critique fairly and give credit where it's due), is akin to me setting up a blog to help my pupils with their French and then publicly say "Ellie is crap at French and has no hope of passing her exams" or worse "I can't stand Jessica, she's an attention seeking little whore" (btw, the names ARE made up!).
I stopped giving Joe's words credence a long time ago, but this is beyond childish. You are certainly NOT overreacting Kiwi! At first I thought that he needs to be reminded of an online courtesy rule: Never say something that you wouldn't be willing to say to that person's face. Except, at this point I don't think I'd be surprised to see him do just that.
I've seen Joe in person at ComicCon, and had the same impression. He seemed to delight in adoration, and view any dissenting opinion as mere pions challanging his all mighty power. I think he was about 6 years old at the time.
And yeah, at this point, Shadow definitley deserves a badge or something.
Hon, he *is* being as much of a bastard as you think her is here. Not only that, he's being COMPLETELY unprofessional. When have you ever heard Joss Whedon openly and publicly complain about his fans? *cough* never *cough* He doesn't do that because he is GREATFUL to them for supporting him. He realizes that those are his livelihood. Not only that, they're his publicists. They make the show happen and spread the word to others who join them, thus incresing the all-powerful ratings, thus paying for him to make more of what they love. Um...Joe...either you want to kill Atlantis or you're more of an idiot than I give you credit for...
