I did see that, and I winced - I can't think of another way to replicate what LJ has provided up 'til now. And I have kept my FB & LJ apart for that reason.
But now.. well, I am not ready to remove all, but we shall see.
I'm kind of hoping that LJ responds to the unhappiness of users on this issue.

I don't think that's selfish at all - I feel the same way. As the world get ever more connected it's easier to find folks who collect the ear wax from the left ear of pop star dogs, lol!
And honestly, many of the friendships I'm honored to be a part of over the 'net have been years in the making.
That's no small loss of connections if communication gets narrowed through loss of options.

I came up against this just this summer, and made some big changes, but I suspect that should things get worse on the invasion of privacy front I may choose to give up youth work rather than my voice.
I can still do that, at this point.

"Overall, I'd have to say that working with youth is more likely to bring about long-term, effective change in our world than just being able to express my opinions freely."

Well.. you have a point there.
If it were easy to do, I suppose more folks would be doing it.
Perhaps discretion is my next life lesson, sigh.
