School will be starting soon, on Sept. 9th. I am determined NOT to use my vehicle to commute, and take light rail/bus. My old lady car needs a rest, and I'm sick of adding to the pollution ( Read more... )

I'm considering the military too, assuming we get with it and repeal DADT.

I don't loathe the military, though. I do loathe how it's being utilized at the moment, but not the military itself.

That is what I loathe as well- the way it's being utilized. What is DADT?

First time I was in nursing school, I was in ROTC. They had what seemed to be a good program for me at the time. Between Junior and Senior year you had a six week internship of sorts at a military hospital, something like that.

I don't believe she'd be eligible for ROTC, but there's some other program that offers payments to students intending to enter the military during their last two years of school. I can't remember what it's called right now. I don't believe it requires any special classes or other action while in school, just a commitment to a certain term of service afterwards.

Yep, I'm too old for ROTC. I could do the candidate officer program. And for people with nursing degrees, the service obligation is shorter.

I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your classmates. This has been a tough year for you, indeed. *hug*

I am intrigued at the possibility of getting a masters in pathology and being able to do autopsies? Forensic medicine has long been an interest of mine, hence my interest in forensic nursing. It seems we have yet more to talk about when we do finally get the chance to sit down and meet.
