A lovely little episode. Of course canon fic never covers this issue but it really was a major disruption to Winter's life. And I think she would have handled it in exactly his way. She and Tycho (especially Tycho) understand Duty.

Thank you! I've always thought that was one of the Most Important Words to the two of them, Duty. (I imagine it sounds like it has a capital letter every time they say it.)

What I want, is to meet their kids. Allston says in his mind they have at least one, but they don't exist in canon until he squeezes them into a story--and I want my Celchus! :D

I disagree with Allston - don't think Tycho and Winter ever had children, in or out of canon. I don't think they felt suffiently settled as a couple until after Tycho retired. They could have had children then, but I think they were just satisfied at having one another at last, and could always borrow Wedge's girls when they wanted kids to play with ( ... )

Oh, I did read LotF, and loved it, and I agree completely. You really, really captured him (both of them) perfectly. Awesome summation. Link to the fic? Or was it one you did for this FicBattle and all I need to do to find it is hit the "back" key? Because after your description of Tycho's mindset here, I have got to read your portrayal of him in a fic!
