Well, maybe it's just strange for me to see long Russian phrases in English. Russian is initially mush longer, less compact than English. So even some medium lenght phase in translation looks like something from Faulkner. And Lukyanenko is defenetly not Faulkner.
By the way, why Twilight Watch? I thought that Night Watch was the first book of the series. Maybe Twilight Watch is a prequel though, I have no idea.
Anyway, I wish I had your devotion. I'm trying to study Spanish at the moment and am not sure if I'm able to find enough free time and patience for it.
For the simple reason that Twilight Watch was, at the time, the only book I could find in Russian that I had in English as well, so I had a crutch for the translation. Night Watch is the first book.
It's only 40 minutes or so a day, five days a week! Well, two, now, it used to be five and now I'm alternating with Irish. It also comes easier to me than a lot of my peers, because I grew up in a bilingual household. So, to me, this is a fun hobby.
