Mind you, this about made me cry as I was heading to bed last night, so.

I think what makes him feel guilty is that he knows that if Mal wasn't such a stubborn ass? Mal would have been the best man winning and Shep would have been left with one exceedingly intense and magical moment on a dance floor between the 'verses.

It's good to cry every so often.

And also? I'll help with the balancing by writing a Shep/Teyla piece at some point.

Pretty much, yes. And Inara... she's so conflicted. Not about what to do, because she knows what she'll do, but she also knows the worth of both men and knows that no matter what she chooses, someone who deserves better gets hurt. So. Yeah.
