I know that particular ink isn't real because he's mentioned the hours he's had to spend in the makeup chair for it (and washing it out of his sheets afterwards when he just goes to bed too tired to take it off, which, HEE). Given certain aspects of the actor's background I'd guess he doesn't have any ink at all.
Jewish heritage of some degree or another I'm not sure of, and apparently currently practicing still. Albeit with some 21st century/progressive irreverence. His twitter biography declares him "kosher ham."
