ey, show Grant some respect, he was a binge drinker like you and me.
some actuall charges made against him in 1862:
-drinking with traitors and enemies to the Federal GOvernment,becoming drunk and incapable of attending to business.
-occupying the cooks room on a government steamer and vomiting all over the floor--(cause drunkeness) conduct unbecoming an officer.
-getting drunk at st. charles hotel and loosing his sword and uniform; behaving in a maner disgraceful to the US army.
-not sending a Harlot south, getting her drunk and visiting her private room no. 5 publicly, conduct disgraceful to an oficer in the us army.
-getting so drunk that he had to go up stairs on all fours, conduct not becoming a man.
*all this and the man still took ft donelson, first union victory, caused the surender of vicksburg (this is marked one of the greatest millitary campaigns in history) and in 1865 lee to surenders to Grant at virginia ending the civil war.*
