I want a doggie!! I miss my dog from when I was little, and we can't get a cat cause Ray's super-allergic. We could probably get one but ....it wouldn't be fair for the poor thing. Unless we got an older dog that's already got a personality, because Ray and I are never home ( Read more... )

Is there a shelter or a rescue-dog place in St. Catharines? I have friends who volunteer one weekend day a month at animal shelters or rescue places, and it seems to soothe something for them, gets them out, and they meet other people of like interests.

That said, of course I'm not going out and going to all that trouble, but I do think about it from time to time. I'd like a cat, but there's already one cat here, a dog who lives upstairs and one who lives downstairs, so I feel like it's already full in some ways.

Ah, well. Maybe I'll try fish again, once I'm really earning some money.

How IS your poor foot today?

Yeah, there's the Lincoln County Humane Society but I don't know if they're taking any volunteers. DM suggested a little hamster or something cute and furry that can take care of itself mostly, but can still be fun to pet.

I just miss my Danny! He was so cute and wonderful, chocolate brown spaniel with white paws. *sniff* Oh well, maybe next house, right.

Foot is better, I've been taking the naproxen and I was icing it last night, trying to stay off of it as much as I can, and it seems to be working. It doesn't ache on it's own anymore just when I put pressure on it (and I'm trying not to).

That's good, that it's not as bad, your foot.

I miss my kitties, too. -cries- My bears help some tho, and they do let me squish them more than the cats ever did -wink-

I know...the bears do help, and I do have Ray...but furry as he is, sometimes you just want a cute little puppy to play tug-of-war with, or a kitty on your lap...

*poutsnifflesigh*

oh well.

I'm not going to be very popular for saying this, but.. an old dog with personality is still going to get depressed and lonely when left at home all day. Perhaps even more so, because its personality may have developed from alot of tender love and care from a previous owner. Perhaps.. it is better to wait until circumstances have changed? Or get a hairless cat (assuming Ray's allergic to the fur) or something as cats are so independent and don't need quite as much attention as dogs and can basically look after themselves entertainment-wise and adapt to most situations.

I do know how you feel, sort of, though I still have my pets back home (and miss them insane amounts, gah), I would love some sort of pet, be it a hamster or a cat, to keep my company while I'm at uni but it's just impractical, as great as the temptation is. I could give it all of the love and attention it would need, but none of the financial side of things or stability.

You'll get a dog eventually though ^_^ and things will be perfect with that dog.
