Yep, Strictly is the daddy of the show that's swept the world. The Grandaddy is Come Dancing, a proper professional dancing competition which was actually televised on the BBC. Hard to conceive of now, but it got very good ratings twenty years ago.
Donny Osmond spends a lot of time in the UK and is very well-liked. It's surprising that Dancing With the Stars doesn't show on a major network here. It's probably for the same reason that Strictly doesn't air across the Pond - most of the celebs are very minor and wouldn't be of interest outside their own milieu.
LOL! Chris is a sports presenter on BBC Breakfast and Ricky is an actor on a soap. The third-placed 'celeb' is also in a soap. Joe Calzaghe is the only name you might know as he's a successful boxer. OMG, he was dreadful! One might expect a boxer to be light on his feet, but noooo.
Glad you enjoyed them, sweetie! It's the only reality show I watch because the 'celebs' actually have to work to win, week after week, for months. The winner was a sports presenter on the BBC's Breakfast Show and he worked his tiny little socks off. Not a natural dancer, but he slogged his heart out.
Me too! Chris and Ola had such wonderful chemistry, even better than Ali and Brian though they're apparently a couple in RL. And they had the advantage of James helping out. Naturally, he wanted the missus to win.
Ola looked fabulous throughout but those sparkly jeans and little crop top in the show dance didn't do them any harm at all. *g*
Btw, thanks so much for the gorgeous handmade card, hon! Just beautiful. *hugs*
Brian is strangely cold. Technically, I'm sure he's an excellent dancer but he and Ali didn't raise many sparks even in the Argentine Tango. Nothing to compare with Vincent and Flavia, anyway. Chris and Ola had a great sense of fun.
Please thank your mum for me, too! She's very creative and has a wonderful design ability. :D
Well done on picking the winner! I was really torn between trying to decide if it's an entertainment show, in which case Chris was the clear winner, or a dancing show, in which case Ricky had the inside track.
Either way, I would've been okay with the result but happier that the entertainer got the nod in the end. *g*

Glad you like the card! As always, all compliments have to go to my mum. ;-) It's so nice to have the card production in house, so to speak.

In some ways it was very similiar to the last two on X-Factor. Joe was definitely the better singer, but Olly did the best performances.
You should have posted Chris's Charleston. Now, THAT was a showstopper.

I should've! Best dance of the series, I thought.
