Doctor Horrible

Jul 23, 2008 01:53

In case it's not been noticed, it is possible to see all three Acts here. I don't know how long they'll be up and I know it's a love or hate thing, and opinions are divided, but I loved and my friends who didn't are so very accepting.

For those on the love side, horrible_fic has some excellent fic, including one with a soundtrack! Yes, I am eyeing you, lunabee34.

From the moment Dr Horrible showed us the bag containing the transported gold I was loving this total mismash of the three supergeeks in Buffy, and Buffy the Musical.

I am totally buying the DVD when it's available. I loved the three geeky fans too.

The transported gold that smelled of cumin! Gotta love that. Joss totally put together every geeky thing in Buffy and turned out something completely original. NPH, Nathan, Felicia (the Potential), everything was right. Bad Horse was actually a horse! LMAO!

It was genius, far as I was concerned. Wonderful lyrics, unforgettable melodies, and the DVD is mine, as soon as it's released. Geeky fans rule!

Me neither. I'm wondering if he'll do more of the same. Now he's got this video streaming thing down - and eventually included the non-American audience *rolls eyes* - maybe there's be a Dr H sequel. I hope the rumours that the DVD has a singing commentary are true!

Thanks for the link - I thought it was a clever idea of Joss's although I have a few issues about some of it, overall I think he did good :)

I agree. It was a very clever idea to use the multi-media that's now available to so many of us. My only issue is that friends on dial-up couldn't get it. Hey, Joss, not everyone has broadband, and why the heck didn't you sort out the international connection in the first place? Looks suspiciously like a marketing ploy. deird1's post pretty much sums up my opinion.

What bothered you?

I thought it was a little bit too white/middle class. Considering that the heroine worked in a shelter there were far too few ethnically diverse people there (let's face it, most of the homeless aren't white in the US). Having said that I suppose Joss had to draw on his friends to fill the cast, so he may very well only know white people....

Meh - I shouldn't pick holes, but it bugged me.

I loved the music though and NPH can sing up a storm!!

Very good point. I can only remember one black man in the whole thing. Sadly, most of the disenfranchised people in this country aren't white either and are badly under-represented in the media.

If it bugs you, it does. It's valid to pick holes and not just gibber that 'Joss is god!'

Oh, I loved the music, too. It was very much a family affair, and the Whedon family is talented. I'd only ever seen NPH as Doogie Howser and a tiny bit in How I Met Your Mother, but apparently he's well known as an actor in Broadway musicals and has been singing since he was a kid. Nathan has quite a set of pipes, too!

Thank you!!! Thank you!!! With dial-up, I really couldn't get a look at it... I could at least at this site (yes, why, I spend hours downloading things.......... *sigh* and the sound and the vision didn't match... and my connection quit on the last thirty seconds on the second one.... and I still have to download the third one..........) BUT at least I got to see it!!!! LOL. I'm just Joss desperate. Or I hate people talking about things I can't watch.... LMAO

Welcome, hon! Keep trying - it really is worth it. HEE! We've all been Joss-desperate, which is why this has hit so big! Cleversticks didn't make Act I available to non-US viewers for almost a day, so you're not too far behind. *rolls eyes* He's a maroon.

Hee! I found this on a Dr H comm and have no idea of the legality or otherwise. Truly, I think most people will buy the DVD with the singing commentary and spreading it around won't hurt the sales.
