Tolkien and spellcheck

Just found at TheOneRing.net an entry from someone who had the idea to spellcheck something from the Encyclopedia of Radar Arda and laughed myself silly about the result. Word is not made to deal with Tolkien, no doubt. It is entirely too good not to share!

I like these! The corrections seem quite dog-orientated: Afghan, Airedale, Dalmatian ...

I know Word doesn't like many of the elf names I give it, and I often have a laugh at the suggestions it makes.

It's fun, isn't it? Word is clearly not made to use it for Sindarin *grin*

Well, at least the dogs make some sense - I don't even recognise some of the results.

Years ago, I used the spellcheck for a text about horses, and fell nearly out of my chair about the result. The only one that made sense at all was to change the Icelandic name of my horse, Skerpa, to a Nepalese sherpa, and here I refused!

**grin** Those are great! I always get tickled at the suggestions Word makes while I am writing, too.

Oh yes, I know what you mean. Once I tried Word on one of my files - after I had finally stopped laughing I decided to be my own spellcheck, because I can make mistakes all by myself without Word correcting even more mistakes into the text. It doesn't have to be Quenya or Sindarin, some special expressions about horses are enough to get the funniest suggestions.

Hm, maybe I should try this game myself and using the *German* spellcheck for the 'Encyclopedia of Arda' - could be interesting *grin*
