A friend of mine forwarded a recent proposal that would effectively ban all types of boa and python snakes from legal ownership. This includes and effectively covers many "safe species" such as ball pythons, which got their name from CURLING UP INTO A BALL WHEN PROVOKED/THREATENED. Oh Jesus Christ, now they want to restrict the presence of "non-officially sanctioned congregations" in the National Mall, which is a popular summit for protest groups so they can protect the grass from being stepped on.
