More language notes!

More language-fu ahead. featherynscale and triadruid were kind enough to work through my pouting to help me improve the alphabet so it looks less like Tengwar. I've got a baby lexicon of about 50+ words, a rudimentary grammar system, and even some punctuation ( Read more... )

Seeing the tall, sweeping letters of the Elmir script reminds me of making the table edging for the Rivendell ritual. The leters of Mordor, they burn...in my brain...aaaagh!

Still, I have to give you credit for the stunning way in which you are able to present this!

Damn. I have a hard enough time with English, French, ASL, and Gaelic. You want to add a fantasy language into the mix as well?

Woman, you must be mad!

But I like the script you came up with. Or is it an already established font/script. Ever thought about drawing henna designs as an add-on to your career?

I've studied German, French, Spanish, Latin, Japanese, Hungarian, and a smidgin of Ancient Greek, Sanskrit, Chinese, and Scots Gaelic. :D

Thanks! The script is hand-drawn, and it's all my own.

What's even crazier is that there are eight sentient races on this world (obviously there was some divine intervention), so I'm doing some of the language-building process for each of them. Plus figuring out numeral systems, looking at how the races have borrowed concepts from each other through trade, etc. And looking at how domestication and selective breeding have affected the local fauna... and... and... and...

And I found a *nix program for font-editing, so I installed cygwin and have been playing around with that, to see if I can make a font out of this script.

'Cuz if you're going to geek out, ya might as well geek hardcore.

I have thought about henna, but I really hate working with it. But I have been known to do face/body painting. :D

Gotta be a smart-ass about everything, don'cha? :-D

Yeah! Go hardcore geek! Uh, you know what I mean.
