rest in peace, Jack

My journal is far from being a sims-only journal, but generally, it's always happy, silly, pop culture stuff I post instead of sims. Today, I'm taking the time to post something different, something I don't normally do. I'm taking the time to remember and mourn Jack Layton.

I'm not Canadian and was therefore unable to witness all of the things he had done, but I do remember how excited you were while telling me about awesome he was. I could tell you had a deep respect for him, and now I see why. *hugs* ilu and I hope you'll be ok.

I was so excited that he had a bit more power - I wanted to see what he could do! I think it'd take nothing short of a miracle for a politician to displace Jack from the number one spot in my books; he was absolutely wonderful.

Thanks bb, ilu2. ♥

I'm not familiar with who he was, but he obviously meant a great deal to you. It's sobering to think of the loss the world has taken with the passing of someone who sounds so inspiring.

I never thought a politician could mean so much to me, but there you have it. I was really looking forward to seeing what he could do in his new position of power; I think his letter makes it clear that he was a different sort of politician and an absolutely lovely one at that.

My Mum woke me up yesterday just to tell me about it- since then I've been really depressed and cried when I read his letter.
I met him once when he came to speak at my university and he shook my hand and signed his autograph. He was really nice and answered all of our questions.

Not to sound like a mega bitch, but why couldn't it have been Harper? Seriously.

I was woken up by text messages telling me about it, not a good way to start the day.

I saw him speak a couple times and always wanted to meet him; I'm so jealous of - and happy for! - you. I'd heard only good things about him, so your story doesn't surprise me one bit.

I completely get where you're coming from. I mean, I'd never wish death upon anyone, especially to an okay man who just differs politically from me, but if they were both dangling off the ledge of a cliff and I had the option to save one, well, it wouldn't even be a decision. We lost the best and we're stuck with the worst.
