Oddly enough, I was going to ask you if you read Sedaris today. Seriously, you should go read this now. Or at some point. It probably won't take 10 minutes. And it is so much what I wish I could do with the writing. It's like LJ Idol, except the complete opposite.

I have "Portnoy's Complaint" by Philip Roth, which is more of an inspiration for my Idol entries. Completely over-the-top and perverted first person, self-absorbed confessions. And I probably have one of the Rabbit books by Updike around. Drop by and trade me fajitas and/or brownies and I will allow you to have them.

Damn that was really good. I had always assumed Sedaris was one of those overrated writes that everyone else likes. But I really liked that.

If by drop by you mean drop in the mail, I could see that happening. Although you might not want to eat the fajitas when they arrive.

Sometimes I do think he's overrated, but at the same time it's hard to imagine anyone doing anything better in the short narrative format. Half the time I read it and go "he's the luckiest bastard on earth...I could write like that!" But he does manage to do it very, very consistently.

Mail Fajitas = Probably Not a Good Idea

Have you read the last 2 books written recently to finish off the original Dune series?

Hunters of Dune and Sand Worms of Dune.

Written by his son and Kevin J Anderson, the same pair who tackled the prequels.

Yeah I just finished the last one not too long ago. They were good, not quite as good as the originals. But I was glad to finally have a conclusion to it all. And that the conclusion was what Frank Herbert had in mind all along.

I never read the prequels though. If you read them, did you like them?

I think they rounded out the series well. I am glad that Duncan played such a huge part. Always been a big fan of Duncan Idaho.

I have read a couple of the prequels. It is good to see the human fight against the machine enemy. I have not read House Harkonen or the others in that run.

I will have to post the short story I wrote set in the Dune universe on my journal again one day soon. Not sure what I will ever use it for but enjoyed writting it.

thanks! I have loved Waiting for Godot since reading it in an Irish literature class in college. I'd love to see it performed live.
