So when I was supposed to be napping, but in fact couldn't sleep, I was thinking about Nicholas Cage. I use to like him, and I use to like his movies. That is until he decided he wanted to be an action star. Con Air was a truly horrible movie, but at least John Cusack and Steve Buscemi only did it for the money. Cusack even told them he'd be their ( Read more... )

Buscemi admitted he only does movies like those to finance movies like Trees Lounge.

Amen to that. Trees Lounge and Living in Oblivion are awesome movies.

And yeah, Nicholas Cage lost me around Con Air/Snake Eyes.

How did they get them in? I'm sure that tying Iron Man, the Hulk, the upcoming Captain America movie, etc into the contracts for an Avengers film and the cash involved didn't hurt.*G*

Is there a new Avengers film? I saw that one of the Incredible Hulk writers is also the writer for Captain American, but I don't see any cast listing.

Is this the new thing, people playing the same character in multiple superhero movies?

The cash is a big motivator, I hope that's why Tim Roth is doing it, because I really like him.

Yep, it's the new thing. Look for Nick Fury to show up in all of them as well.

Last time I heard that is what they were doing, using the movies to build up to where they all come together.

I don't know why they need another Hulk movie...the Ang Lee one is underrated genius.

O' Heather, I feel I have an ally in you!

I could post an incredibly vitriolic entry all about Scarlett Johansen and how grossly, hideously embarrassing it is that she is releasing a cover album of Tom Waits songs. TOM WAITS?! And David fucking Bowie dropped by the studio to join in the fun?!

Why can't people like that just stick to making mediocre movies in which they play really hot chicks? Is that asking so much?

OMG!!!! I had no idea she was doing that!

Why does every movie star really want to be a music star? And why do they all think they should be?

I just mentioned Scarlett below before reading this...I don't so much care that she is covering Tom Waits either way...although I snickered when she said "when I first heard Bone Machine in 8th grade," which still would have been 5 years after it came out...I'm just more annoyed with anything that comes out of her mouth. "Hello, I know I'm really, really hot, but I'm also really, really intelligent...people just hate me for that."

David Bowie would drop by the studio to help Britney Spears make a comeback if he thought he could get 5 minutes of press coverage out of it. Thankfully, I'm glad the real Bowie died in a plane wreck right after Scary Monsters.

I still like Tobey. His ego hasn't annoyed me in a Johannson like way yet...

I thought Cage still likes to do some "art" films. Or artsier ones. It's hard to believe that a guy who was in Leaving Las Vegas and films by the Coens and David Lynch could totally sell out. I mean, he did do Adaptation recently...and was in Grindhouse...and Lord of War...

That said I don't really like him either, and certainly don't get girls who think he's hot. And it seems to me that he never really acknowledges the fact that he got this far because of his last name being Coppola.

adaptation was amazing, he does some good work occassionally, i'm just tired of him in general

I love Cage. The only thing he ever did that I really hated was Matchstick Men. There isn't much anyone could say to sway me, I've loved him since Moonstruck.

I was seriously discussing how much I can't stand Nicholas Cage anymore last night... must be something in the air, haha.
