Disclaimer: Though real people are used as characters, this fic bears no resemblance to Real Life and these people are not owned by me.
Comments/Notes: The inspiration for this is Yoseob's recent Yozm posts and the incident that caused them. I don't care how excited you get at a concert. Throwing things at the idols you love is not cool. Especially not things that can hurt them.
Summary:
Sometimes being an idol isn't all it's cracked up to be.

“I should have thrown the damned thing back out at them.”
Doojoon sighed and rolled his eyes as Junhyung paced behind him but didn’t turn his attention away from Yoseob. “And then there would have been a riot as they all tried to get their hands on it. It would have only made things worse.”
“Still. It’d have made me feel better.”
“Until you got in trouble with management for losing your temper.” He pulled the ice pack away from Yoseob’s cheek and tilted the younger man’s face slightly. “I think the swelling has gone down. Can you see okay?”
Yoseob nodded, but the wince that escaped his control said a lot more to Doojoon than anything else.
“Headache?”
“Yeah,” Yoseob said softly.
“Junhyung, stop pacing around here making us dizzy and go see if you can’t get some aspirin from someone. And make sure the others aren’t bugging the girls too much, all right?”
Though he muttered about being ordered around, Junhyung disappeared out the door like a man on a mission. Doojoon almost felt sorry for anyone who dared to get in the man’s way. As much as he groused about the title of ‘band mom’, Junhyung could be as protective as a bear with cubs if any of them was hurt or threatened. He was angry that Yoseob had been injured and as he couldn’t take it out on the people who’d actually inflicted the pain, he’d be merciless if someone was stupid enough to give him a target to vent at.
Hopefully Hyuna would be able to diffuse him before he exploded at someone important.
“I’m sorry.”
“Hmm?” Doojoon turned his attention back to Yoseob to find the singer looking down at his hands. “What are you sorry for?”
“This is stupid. I should have been paying more attention. Should have ducked or something.” He glanced up with a weak smile. “I’m sorry to be so much trouble.”
Doojoon sighed and wrapped both arms around Yoseob, pulling him into a gentle hug. “It wasn’t your fault, Seobie. There should have been security to prevent something like this from happening. Hell, whoever threw it should have known better. Even if they didn’t mean to hit you, it doesn’t take much common sense to realize that throwing something like that is dangerous. I get nervous enough when they chunk stuffed animals or flowers. What if one of us trips over it? So many things could happen… It gives this band leader nightmares, I tell you.”
He could feel Yoseob’s lips move against his collar bone, but he had to strain to hear the small voice that went with it. “Do you think… maybe they did mean it? Maybe I’m just not good enough and-”
Before the younger man could spiral any further with that train of thought, Doojoon pulled back slightly and forced Yoseob to look at him. Once he was sure he had Yoseob’s attention, he let his hand slide over his friend’s uninjured cheek. “Seobie, you are an amazing singer and dancer. And more than that, you’re probably the nicest, friendliest, most caring guy out of the whole lot of us. I cannot believe that there’s anyone out there that would genuinely want to hurt you. It’d kill whatever faith I have left in my fellow human beings.”
They stared at each other in silence for a long minute before Yoseob slowly nodded. “Okay.”
The pair shared a smile and Doojoon thought that just maybe, everything would be okay. He fully intended to have words with their managers though. Not having bodyguards had been completely unacceptable and he had no intention of ever letting this happen again.
“Whoa, okay. I should have knocked. I’ll just wait right out here until you guys are finished doing … whatever it is your doing.”
“You’re such a pervert,” Yoseob replied, rolling his eyes as he made a rude gesture at Junhyung where the rapper hovered in the doorway.
“Hey, it’s not my fault that every time I leave the two of you alone, I come back to find you in a compromising position. And if you’re going to insult me, I’ll just take this aspirin back to where I got it from.”
“Doojoonie, make him give me my aspirin~”
“Junhyung, give Yoseob the aspirin. And grab that water bottle so he can take them.”
Junhyung scowled - one of the fakest scowls Doojoon had ever seen on the man’s face, the relief that Yoseob seemed to be okay was easy to see under it - and muttered something that sounded like of course you take his side. Seobie-biased bastard, but obediently fetched the water and handed over the pills.
Smiling, Doojoon watched as the pair continued to bicker lightly and promised himself that in the future he’d do a better job protecting this precious family he’d found.
