Eeeeeeee! American Gothic on DVD!

I just...I fell in love with this series when it first aired, and now it's going to be on DVD. I am so very, very happy at this particular moment.

And! Kolchak: the Nightstalker is coming out on DVD too! (It's basically the '70s version of The X-Files.) My brother introduced me to it when the Sci-Fi channel ran ( Read more... )

Okay, the American Gothic DVD collection is seriously awesome. I remember watching that with my parents when I was in high school. Gary Cole was so damn creepy and so was the little Caleb. Oddly enough, I was thinking about this series the other day when I saw that Kolchak was being redone -- which was yet another of those series I sat down to watch with my dad when it was playing on sci-fi. I'm not sure about Stuart Townshend but I'm interested in watching it, especially as Frank Spotniz is responsible for this remake. So I guess we'll see?

It's kind of nice to see something that's not entirely reality tv based on the air again.

That series was just so amazing - scary and creepy and everything that makes a series like that good. It's also the reason I've come to fear Gary Cole, Brady Bunch or not. :)

Most of the bad I've heard about the series is that they're going with a younger look for Kolchak, and things like that. It does look like it'll be a good series, even if it's not 100% loyal to the original. Personally I can't wait to see it.

Oh, this is so true. I think the reason I don't watch as much tv as I used to is that it seems like most of the shows on anymore are reality shows.

I'm practically hyperventilating at American Gothic being on DVD. Omg, you know not my love for that show, even aside from that it was my very first real fandom ever. (God, I remember the days of tape trading to see the four episodes not aired in the US, but Australia had them and, damn, I still hold a grudge against CBS for the way they dicked around with the show. Zomg, AMERICAN GOTHIC, EEEEEE. ♥)

(I love Gary Cole, he was brilliant as Lucas, but, jeez, is he ever sleepwalking through his latest series, Wanted. I really want to like it, I know he's capable of more, but... *snore*)

I I'm starting to get an idea of how happy this makes you. ;)

But yes, I loved that series and had a little mini-freakout of my own when I saw it on DVD at Amazon. :D

(My love for Gary Cole started wth this show, and has been hit or miss with some of his other stuff. I haven't seen Wanted (no cable anymore), but it looked intersting.)

*laughs* It's just... you know how you have those series that were the ones you cut your teeth on or you were everywhere in the fandom, it's where you first made a name for yourself? American Gothic is one of those series for me. I loved it with mad abandon. ♥

(He really is a great actor, so I'm not sure why some of his stuff is so incredibly miss sometimes. Wanted is all right, it's very pretty and it's got a bizarre sort of charm to it that keeps me watching, and I don't even bother watching it on TV, I just download everything these days.)

Oh yeah, I know exactly what you mean. I have a few series that will forever have a special place in my heart because of that. :)

(I'd say he seems like an underused actor, but he's been in more stuff the last few years. Maybe a some of the miss was just a way to get his name out there. Wanted looked pretty, but I don't watch that much tv these days - I usually wait till I can get my hands on whole seasons and marathon them when I get the chance.)
