Just confirmed it through another purged user having comments still up.

My assumption is that person went through and deleted every one of their community posts.

Yeah I thought so too, and just had it recently confirmed though another purged user I know.

The owner of the community could've deleted all comments by a particular user.

Thats true. I should have said across multiple communities as well. Fail me for typing this as I was walking out the door this morning.

Yeah it threw me this morning, but seems to confirm that purged accounts don't go through LJ and purge comments or entries. Just wow dedication on someone removing all their posts over the years.
