Summary: Watari has a unique bedside manner.
Tatsumi catches Watari in the middle of an exam with Terazuma, who seems to be even more irritable than usual as Watari writes something down on the clipboard he holds.
"Since you haven't been taking my advice," Watari says with a clinical air, "I'm going to have to prescribe you some calcium pills - "
Tatsumi raises an eyebrow as Terazuma growls, but chooses to hold his peace when Watari looks up to give him a long, level stare.
"I told you in your last exam that the symptoms you were complaining of - fatigue, irritability and high blood pressure among others were due to calcium deficiency. Since you obviously haven't bothered to do what I suggested," Watari pauses and Terazuma has the good grace to look guilty, "it's my responsibility as your physician to make sure something is being done."
Terazuma glares at Watari, and it's clear from the expression on his face that he's curious as to how Watari expects to follow through on that particularly ominous declaration.
Watari smiles and looks back down at his clipboard. "I'll be sure to inform Wakaba about this, seeing as she's your partner and someone who is personally invested in your health and general well-being. I'm positive she'll look on this whole situation as a way to get you more involved with community activities and the like."
Tatsumi's almost entirely certain Watari is laughing to himself as Terazuma pales slightly.
"Well, that's it for now." Watari says, getting to his feet and crossing to the medicine cabinet where he pulls a small bottle with a blue label from a shelf. "Follow the directions on the label and let me know if something else comes up. Other than that, take better care of yourself or I'll do more than give you a prescription next time."
Terazuma mutters under his breath as he takes the bottle and leaves without a further word to Watari, giving Tatsumi a wary look as he walks past him and into the hallway.
Watching Terazuma leave, Tatsumi turns back to see Watari straightening up the infirmary, putting things away and otherwise getting ready to go home for the night.
"Threatening to sic Wakaba on him doesn't seem to be the sort of thing a doctor should be engaging in." Tatsumi says as he walks further into the infirmary. "Doesn't that fall somewhere in the category of knowingly inflicting harm on a patient?"
Watari smiles over his shoulder at Tatsumi as he walks over to the little office tucked into a corner of the infirmary. "I won't tell anyone if you don't."
Tatsumi smiles and follows Watari into the office, taking a seat opposite Watari as he types something into the computer. "I wasn't aware that something like calcium deficiency would affect us, given our somewhat...unusual healing ability."
Watari scowls at the computer screen for a moment, and gestures at what Tatsumi assumes is Terazuma' medical file on the edge of the desk. "It wouldn't, if Terazuma bothered to take better care of himself. I swear, that man has the worst eating habits this side of Tsuzuki, and I have no idea what kind of stress he's been under lately, but - "
Tatsumi leans back in his chair and lets Watari's rant wash over him while he makes a mental note to look over Terazuma and Wakaba's workload. He looks up when he realizes Watari's no longer speaking and is instead watching him with an amused expression on his face.
"You probably didn't some here to listen to me rant about my idiot patients though, did you."
"Actually, no, but it did prove to be surprisingly entertaining." Tatsumi admits with a smile.
Watari laughs and turns back to the computer for a moment, checking something in Terazuma's file before closing the program and shutting the computer down. "While I'm glad to have amused you with all of this, I am somewhat curious as to what brings you down here."
Tatsumi's smile widens slightly and he glances meaningfully at the clock hanging on the wall beside the door. "As it's rather late and I doubt you're feeling up to cooking at the moment, I thought I might invite you to dinner. Nothing exceedingly fancy of course, as I've yet to do my shopping this week, but I'm fairly certain I can manage to make something reasonably edible for the two of us."
"Three." Watari says, leaning back in his chair to regard Tatsumi thoughtfully. "003's taking a nap in the lab."
"For the three of us, then." Tatsumi agrees.
Watari watches him a moment longer and gets to his feet, pausing to collect his jacket as Tatsumi does the same. "Don't think sweet-talking me into dinner is going to get you out of your check-up tomorrow, though." Watari says, leaning in to kiss Tatsumi on the cheek as he moves past.
Smiling, Tatsumi closes the office door behind them and follows Watari. "I had something else in mind for that."
Watari shoots him a mischievous look over his shoulder. "Well then, I guess we'll just have to see how persuasive you can be then, won't we."
Tatsumi just smiles as he holds the door for Watari. "I suppose we will."
