After Mikey gets back home Gerard tells him that Pete called and Mikey stares at him when Gerard goes on to say that he's kind of cool, definitely interesting. Mikey stares at him because he knows Pete, okay. And while Pete is both of those things, he's also an asshole, and Gerard's all "I like him!" (Sop of course when Pete shows up Mikey and Pete are smirking at Gerard who seriously takes back every nice thing he ever said about Pete

Gerard even talks about this piece that was totally inspired by something Pete said, "It's just the way he worded it, I was thinking about the difference between classes and heteronormative bullshit and then-" Mikey's not really listening, because he's too busy thinking about how he kind of thought Gerard and Pete would annoy each other to no end. (Face to face Pete is even more of an asshole than he is on the phone, but the smile makes up for it
